Available Older Dogs
Sometimes situations arise where we have an older dog available. This can happen when someone returns a puppy to us, or a dog we intended to keep for our program isn't going to fit anymore. That said, we love each and every one of our dogs! They also have a pretty great life running the family farm. It's only after a lot of deliberation that we consider rehoming one of our amazing dogs.
Why do we consider it at all?
We realize that sometimes an older dog can bless the life of someone else! Having an older, pretrained, personality determined dog just seams more comfortable for some people.
If you are considering one of our older dogs, please call. We don't have applications because we would rather speak to you on the phone to get to know you, and what living circumstances the dog would have. Each dog has their own preference of space and people interaction time. In most cases, the dog will be fixed before heading home with you.
If anyone below steals your heart, don't hesitate to reach out! We are happy to answer any questions you might have.
Best,
CaMee & Mykelle

Meet Sicily

Age: 2 Breed: AKC Bernese Mountain Dog Gender: Female Rehoming Fee: $800
We got Sicily and her half sister London when they were about a year old, a year ago. Sicily is a VERY big girl. Just at 100lbs and standing at hip height she sure is a force to recon with.
She has been loved on by Mykelle and Jentry's girls since we got her(both less than 40 lbs). Ozzie and Adrielle LOVE Sicily and London. They are their "Big Best Dogs". The lead them around on leashes, try to ride them like horses (they just sit down), and love to brush and play with them. Sicily is seriously one of the sweetest souls, a rule follower, and LOVES sitting in people seats. She very quickly learned the new rules upon moving into the Young household, and hardly ever trespassed. Even when there was yummy food just sitting on the kid table for the taking! The one and only thing she considers a "dumb rule" is no dogs on the furniture. As you can see in her photos, people seats are the only seats for her. It's a constant battle but hey, when we let is slide she feels like the happiest most loved dog on the planet.
Sicily was a perfect candidate to be one of our puppy mommas until an umbilical hernia was found on her abdomen. This hernia isn't life threatening, but could be to her or her puppies if she became pregnant. We feel it is in her best interest to find a family who wants to love on her for her.
Information we think people should know about her before contacting us:
- SHE NEEDS FIXED. IT IS NOT SAFE FOR HER TO HAVE PUPPIES. Her rehoming fee is $800. If you would like her surgery before coming home to you, we will ask for that additional cost upfront. Otherwise we will trust you to get the procedure done with your prefered veternarian.
- She was not overly socialized as a puppy and does not do well at big events/gatherings with people and things she doesn't know. She is happy to be a home dog, the happiest welcome home greater you could ask for!
- She is not dominant. Not with food or upon meeting other dogs. She does great with other dogs.
- She has chewed up a package or two that was left unattended on the porch.
- She does pull on the leash when excited or nervous. This can be rough as she is so large.
- She jumped on people when we first got her. We have worked really hard to break this habit, and have been mostly successful. However, this needs to be a boundary her new family would hold fast to enforcing.
Right now Sicily is up in Helena, MT with Jentry and Mykelle. Please reach out to Mykelle at 307-272-5976 for more information.
