Our Process
We are old fashioned around here. Unlike a lot of current kennels, we don't have an application you fill out. We have phones and we would love for you to call them! Text them! Get in direct contact with us, please! If we don't answer we will get back to you as soon as posible. Usually the same day. By the time we send a puppy home with you, we hope to have interacted with you enough to get a good feel for the environment your puppy will be coming home to.
Reserving a Puppy
After an initial conversation and you decide to move forward with reserving a puppy, we ask for a $500 deposit. We prefer Venmo, cash, or check. We can also take cards! We will have to send you a link, so let us know if that is the direction you would like to go.
Once your deposit is recieved we we will send you a Puppy Deposit Receipt. This will explain what litter you have put a deposit down on, and what pick position you are. Pick positions are given based on when you place your deposit. First money in is equivilent to the first puppy out and so forth. Most the time we have all of our intended litters for the year listed on our website. If there is something you are looking for but don't see listed, reach out anyways! We are willing to shake things up if you want to put a deposit down on something specific that we don't yet have planned.
For the puppies who are still available after pick week has come and gone, what you see is what you get! If you put a deposit down on them, they are yours.
Typically your deposit is transferable, but not refundable. Here are a few instances they would be refunadable:
1. The momma's pregancy doesnt take for the litter you put a deposit on.
2. You are intersted in a specific coloring, trait, or gender and there is not a puppy
with your specifications available at your pick.
3. If you have an unplanned life changing event. We aren't heartless. But please
understand we are running a business, and if we hold a pick position for you, it turns
other interested parties away.
Please realize that if you choose to transfer your deposit to a different litter, you will most likely be in a different pick position.
If you decide to go with a puppy from a different location or business, we will not refund your deposit. Please don't ask.
Before Puppies Are Born
After receiving your deposit, we will keep in touch! First, we will let you know when the momma you have selected goes into heat, and is bred. At that time we will let you know when we will do a pregnancy test, and what her due date is.
Your next point of contact from us will be when the puppies arrive! You will get photos before our website or social media platforms are updated with the news.
Puppy Monday
When puppies hit the ground, we will contact you every Monday with photos and videos so you can watch them grow. This usally helps you start to figure out which puppy you are drawn to. We also do an instagram live for every current litter. Don't worry if you can't tune in, we will send you the link to watch it at any point!
The Pick Process
At 4 weeks old, we will start the pick process. We love you to come in person for this if you can! If you are unable to travel to us, we are happy to do face times or send extra photos and videos. We also handle the puppies daily, and have a good feel for their budding personalities. So if you have something specific you are looking for, please let us know and ask questions!
We ask first pick to select their puppy as close to when they turn 4 weeks old as possible. We ask each subsequent pick to choose their puppy within 2 days of the previous pick choosing. This helps us get picks wrapped up when the puppies are around 5 weeks old so we can start finding homes for any remaining puppies.
After you have selected your puppy, we will continue to send you photos every monday until they are ready to come home to you!
First Vet Visit
We will take your puppy to the vet when they are between 6 and 7 weeks old to do their wellness exam and get their first set of shots. At this exam the vet listens to their heart, feels their bones, and gives them their first vaccinations. We will communicate with you at this time how your puppy has checked out, and what to expect, if anything is concerning, going forward. We genetic test our parents, and only breed parents together that will have exceptionally healthy offspring! In the rare occasion our vet does find something contrary to the norm at this visit, we are happy to talk to you about moving your deposit to another puppy, a different litter, or possibly refunding your deposit. We will be very transparent and willing to work with you if this becomes the case.
Be aware that puppies take at least three sets of shots to finish the puppy booster series. We cover the first set at their initial wellness exam. Please get in contact with a veterinarian of your choice to schedule your new puppy's next sets. The second set of shots should be given 4 weeks after their first set. So typically when your puppy is between 10-11 weeks old.
Our Health Guarantee
Because we health test our parents, we are more than confident we will be sending you home with a healthy and happy puppy. We also recognize that adding a Yellowstone Doodle to the family is quite the investment. Due to these two factors, we confidently, and happily offer our 2 year genetic health guarantee.
It's just a fact of life that sometimes, amidst our best efforts, nature will take its course. Sometimes a puppy develops a life threatening condition. We have found this happens in less than 1% of our puppies, and typically always manifests before the puppy is two years of age. If you happen to be on this terrible side of fate, we will definitely, DEFINITELY, do all we can to make it right.
Option 1: Reimbursement. Simply put, we are willing to reimburse you up to the amount of the purchase price of your puppy for veterinary expenses relating to a diagnosed life threatening condition. Note, the condition MUST be diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian before they are two years of age and the veterinarian must be willing to contact us about it to determine treatment. Payout will happen as Yellowstone Doodle cash flow permits, and we will be upfront and honest about when that will be.
Option 2: Replacement. If it is best for your puppy to pass on, we will replace your puppy with one of equal value, or you can pay only the difference between what you already paid and the higher cost of a higher valued puppy.
We know sometimes after going through the emotional hardship of losing a best friend, it will take some time before you are willing and wanting to go down that road again. When you are ready for another puppy, we will give you first-available first pick on any future, unborn litter you are interested in. The process looks like this:
We typically retain first pick on our unborn litters for ourselves. If we have done that on a litter you are interested in, we will give you our first pick position. In the rare event we have given someone else that position, and you are still interested in that litter, we would be happy to put you in the next pick position available.
Once a litter is born we typically know within the first couple days if we are going to retain first pick from the litter. If we decide we aren't going to keep one we move everyone up. At this point 1st pick for a litter becomes unavailable for the health guarantee replacement. We are not willing to take away what we have promised to another customer.
With a little bit of preplanning you will have first pick of the litter of your choice.
